Little Apostle Chapter 12

"The Saints and Protective Instinct"

Upon hearing growl of the saint stomach, Minato quickly spoke up.

"Ah, let's eat! I'll grill some delicious fish, everyone come!"

"Woof woof~"

"Pii~"

Minato, Taro, and Pipi dashed out of the cave.

"No, please don't worry."

While saying this, the saint followed Minato and his companions out of the cave.

"Don't mind us! It's sad when you're hungry, you know?"

"Woof woof~"

"Taro wants you to eat too!"

In Minato previous life, his mother only came back occasionally.

Because of this, Minato and Taro were always hungry.

So, when they saw someone with an empty stomach, they couldn't just leave them be.

"I'll grill them right away!"

While saying this, Minato took some river fish from Sarakia bag and skewered them onto branches.

The bag itself was a special kind of magical bag, valuable but still something that existed normally.

Sarakia bag had an overwhelmingly larger capacity than regular magical bags, but the saint didn't notice it.

"Bafu bafu~"

Taro skillfully collected firewood with his mouth and piled it up to start a fire.

"Pii~"

Then, Pipi skillfully lit the fire on the pile of firewood.

"Minato-san, um... what about these fish?"

"They're delicious fish you can catch in the nearby river! Taro is good at catching fish!"

"Woof~"

   Taro wagged his tail Proudly.

But the saint entourage stared at the fish intently.

The fish that Minato claimed delicious were called "Melra Oonamazu."

It was a reputedly as a foul-smelling fish, not something commonly eaten.

It was said that not even dogs would eat it, and serving it to a guest could be considered an insult akin to saying "you're lower than a dog."

There had even been incidents of violent cases over it.

"...Do you eat this fish everyday?"

"Woof woof!"

"That's right! It's really delicious!"

"Uhh..."

Hearing this, the saint Agnes couldn't hold back her tears.

Archer Sanya was sobbing, and the old temple knight Hector wiped his tears.

Swordsman Gilbert and mage Marcel were lost in thought with serious expressions.

The divine beast and apostle were in such a wretched environment, eating such terrible food.

   Wasn't it too pitiful?

With tears in their eyes, they looked at Minato again.

His entire body was too dirty.

Mud and cursed sludge were stuck to his hair, clothes, and shoes.

The only thing not covered in dirt was his face, which was being thoroughly licked by Taro.

"...You've been through a lot."

"I haven't had a hard time! It might be tough for Taro though..."

"Woof!"

"Thank you! Taro says it's not tough either!"

While talking, Minato skillfully skewered the river fish onto branches.

"I'm happy because I have Taro. I can eat delicious food, and it's fun. Also, Pipi is here too!"

"Woof woof!"

"Pii pii!"

"You guys having fun too? Thanks."

With that, Minato hugged Taro tightly and gently stroked Pipi.

Initially, when they first met, the saint thought of Taro and Minato as divine, sacred beings.

Furthermore, Witnessing Minato exceptional heal, the reverence for him grew even stronger.

Minato and Taro were apostle and divine beast, so there was no doubt they were sacred, worthy of reverence.

However, the environment they were in was just too pitiful.

The "home" was a cave in a wretched environment bearing traces of the curserer

It was worse than the underground cells where prisoners were kept.

There were no guardians, and an infant, a dog, and a bird were living together, huddled up for warmth.

Despite such adverse circumstances, Minato and Taro were trying their best to entertain them.

They felt a strong desire to protect these children.

Their protective instinct had become stronger than the awe they initially felt for these extraordinary beings they had encountered.

"Alright! They're grilled! Please, eat while they're still warm!"

"Woof woof!"

"Taro says to eat because they got more fat than usual!"

"Itadakimasu... uhh..."

The saint entourage ate the river fish While crying or holding back tears.

It was indeed very bad. But Minato and Taro eat this every day.

Therefore, it is impossible for them, who are adults, to say that it is bad.

Especially, when Minato and Taro looked at them with sparkling eyes, saying, "are you happy?"

"It's even tastier today."

"Woof woof~"

Minato and Taro truly seemed to be enjoying the awful fish.

"It's gooood."

Agnes responded with a strained voice.

"Great~"

"Woof woof~"

Seeing that they were pleased, Minato and Taro were overjoyed.

Pipi, who didn't particularly like river fish, watched them Quietly.

Taro finished eating the river fish in no time.

"Woof~?"

"Ah, right! Let's do that!"

Saying this, Taro ran into the cave and came back holding a garnet in his mouth.

Most of the garnet were in Sarakia bag.

However, the beautifully polished garnet that Minato and Taro had been working on before bed were left in the cave.

"Woof."

Taro dropped it in front of Agnes.

"What's this?"

When Agnes asked, she also noticed that this stone was of little value.

"Woof woof~"

"We found it in the river. Isn't it pretty?"

"Yes, it's very beautiful."

"Woof!"

"Since we have a lot, we'll give you some!"

Minato and Taro distributed the garnet to everyone.

These were not just the stones they found, but they were meticulously polished beautiful garnet stone.

"Woof~?"

Minato and Taro looked at everyone with sparkling eyes, wondering if they were happy.

"...To receive something so beautiful... is it really okay?"

Agnes tightly held the glittering stone in front of her chest as if it were something precious.

"Of course!"

"Woof woof!"

"Thank you. I will treasure it as a family heirloom."

The old temple knight Hector stowed the stone away carefully.

Seeing this, the others also expressed their gratitude and put away the stones.

"When we go to town someday, we'll sell them to buy sweet bread together with Taro!"

"Woof woof~"

   What a good child.

The saint thought this and felt their protective instinct grow even stronger.
